Job Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care using the nursing process, acting as a circulating nurse in the operating room. This role involves collaboration with healthcare team members, including physicians, to provide quality healthcare. Reports to the Charge Nurse.

- Participation in on-call duties during select non-business hours is required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients prior to surgery.
- Provide patient and family education related to surgical procedures and the perioperative process.
- Prepare patients by administering IV therapy, preoperative medications, and confirming surgical site details.
- Participate in essential surgical site verification protocols, including briefings and time outs, in line with hospital policy.
- Identify and react quickly to patient emergencies.
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centric care while adhering to evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Be an active member of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
- Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, and technical skills to provide safe nursing care independently.
- Monitor patient conditions and thoroughly document any changes along with the care provided.
- Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and necessary follow-up measures.
Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure in Texas or a compact state.
- BCLS certification required.
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer to the department.
- PALS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer to the department.
- A minimum of an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- BSN preferred; experience in a similar role is highly regarded.
- CNOR certification is preferred.
- Proficient communication skills in English are essential.
- Ability to lift over 100 pounds with assistance.
- Knowledge of body substance isolation practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills to empathize and respond to the needs of patients, families, and team members.
