Position: Materials Manager




Job Overview

The Materials Manager's primary responsibility is to support the day-to-day operations of the plant by managing raw material inventory flow and plant-level production scheduling. The role is directly responsible for managing plant-level purchasing, receiving, inventory adjustments, and cycle counts while adhering to inventory targets including limited excess & obsolete materials. The Materials Manager will oversee plant-level scheduling adjustments, resource management, and inventory movement in partnership with SIOP, Sourcing, and Operations teams to maximize production efficiency. This position is responsible for these duties at multiple sites and will report directly to the Director of Operations and indirectly to the respective Plant Managers and Materials Planning.


Job Responsibilities

  • Directly manage Purchasing, Receiving, and Inventory Control teams at the plant
  • Maintain appropriate raw materials inventory levels to support production within targets
  • Identify and address opportunities with raw materials inventory via Kanban, order point levels, and local sourcing opportunities in partnership with SIOP and Procurement teams
  • Oversee maintenance of the plant production schedule including rework, rebuilds, production resource allocation, and sequencing
  • Maximize inventory accuracy through scrap, cycle count, and yearly physical inventories processes
  • Lead the receiving, and purchasing team at the plant-level including initial quality checks and vendor relationship management
  • Provide assistance with other projects and reporting upon request to support the business

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • BS in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (or work experience equivalent)
  • 4+ years of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Inventory Management experience
  • Kanban and MRP experience
  • Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, PPT, and PBI
  • Excellent time management, communication, and teamwork skills
