Fibertek, Inc. is a prominent developer of cutting-edge laser and electro-optic systems tailored for the aerospace sector, making significant contributions to atmospheric sensing, laser communications, and lidar systems for NASA, the Department of Defense, and other aerospace customers. We are searching for a dynamic and driven individual to become a part of our Research and Development Division in Herndon, Virginia.
As an Integration and Testing Engineer, you will take charge of planning and executing the integration and testing of sophisticated spaceflight lasers and electro-optical systems. This hands-on role will also involve coordinating design efforts, defining test requirements, and creating comprehensive test documentation at the component, assembly, and system levels. You will apply your knowledge of mechanical, electrical, fluid, and power systems to tackle a variety of technical challenges associated with testing complex hardware systems. Effective communication skills are essential to successfully collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and lead critical flight integration and test initiatives.
Essential Job Duties:
- Develop test processes, design test equipment, and establish system integration and configuration setups using established methodologies and techniques.
- Create hardware deliverables as well as ground support and specialized test equipment.
- Manage requirements and ensure traceability for system verification and validation.
Experience and Expertise Required:
- Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering or related engineering disciplines, with a focus on test requirements development, test planning, documentation, and systems integration, verification, and validation.
- Proven experience in developing and/or managing system requirements.
- Familiarity with spaceflight and electro-optic hardware integration is advantageous.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Possession or ability to acquire a Secret Clearance is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) is required, and a Master’s Degree in engineering is preferred.
Salary Range: The annual base salary for this position is between $100,000 and $160,000. This range reflects what Fibertek reasonably expects to offer for this role. The exact placement within this range will depend on several factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's experience, education and training, specific skills, and relevant market and business considerations.
